Prior to this announcement, In July 2009, Marshall Capital Partners along with Morgan Stanley, a leading global financial services firm, formed the joint venture real estate portfolio and asset manager, Mayak Corporate Real Estate. Members of the joint-venture agree that the resulting three strategic financial dimensions (private equity, hedge fund and real estate advisory) will improve efficiency and effectiveness both at the group and company levels. "We intended to create this joint-venture," says Michael Kart, "and the crisis only quickened that process."
Marshall Spectrum is the fund manager of two hedge funds, the Spectrum CIS Value Fund (year-to-date, the fund has yielded over 100% returns) and the Spectrum Russian Phoenix Fund, both registered in Bermuda. The two funds have an aggregate of close to $100 million in assets under management and carry a successful track record investing in the region's equity markets since 2003. The press release coincides with upcoming road shows to Western Europe and North America and plans to target foreign investors that seek exposure to the Russian and CIS equity markets.
Michael Kart, Managing Partner at Marshall Spectrum, will head the operation and be responsible for daily investment activities of the Funds.
About Michael Kart
Mr. Kart is Managing Partner of Marshall Spectrum Ltd. He is responsible for overseeing the investment activities of the funds and running the day-to-day business of the firm. He began his professional career with Europa Capital Management, a leading Eastern European private equity firm, where he was active in a number of privatization projects. In early 2000, Mr. Kart co-founded Eurotelligence, an Internet start-up that provides customized research tools and solutions for the consulting and finance industry. In 2002 he left Eurotelligence to join Marcuard (Eastern), a Russian investment management arm of Marcuard Group. As a Director he oversaw the firm's investment activities. In 2003 Mr. Kart has become a Director of Marcuard Spectrum and in 2005 was promoted to Managing Partner. In 2009, as a result of the joint venture between Spectrum Partners and Marshall Capital Partners, Mr. Kart was appointed CEO and Managing Partner at Marshall Spectrum Ltd. Mr. Kart has a Master's degree in finance from the University of St.Gallen, Switzerland.
