| Merchant Capital Unveils Russian UCITS Fund |
| IFA Magazine |
Merchant Capital Ltd has launched the Russian Phoenix UCITS fund on its independent platform. The new fund invests in large-cap equities traded in on the markets of Former Soviet Union states. It replicates the strategy of an existing long/short product managed by Spectrum Partners Group in following a thematic investment approach with active stock picking which targets opportunities with a favourable risk/rewards profile.
Launching on Merchant Capital’s platform means that the fund will benefit from being an onshore, regulated UCITS structure with weekly liquidity. The fund is available to retail investors for a minimum outlay of £20,000 and institutional investors for £100,000. The new fund is the first in a series of five planned UCITS launches recently announced by Merchant Capital. The firm anticipates that all five will begin trading before October of this year.
Commenting on the launch, George Cadbury, director of asset management for Merchant, said: “The consistent growth of our UCITS platform is extremely exciting as we continue to look for compatible and innovative strategies with great track records. Spectrum is one such firm which we believe can successfully replicate its offshore product in an onshore regulated structure.”
