| Merchant Capital launches Russian Ucits fund |
| FT Adviser |
Merchant Capital has launched the first in a planned line of five new Ucits funds by partnering with hedge fund manager Spectrum Partners
The Russian Phoenix Ucits fund was launched on June 2 and is a Ucits-compliant version of Spectrum?s long/short Russian hedge fund, the Spectrum Russian Phoenix fund. The funds are invested predominantly in large-cap equities in Russia and former Soviet states.
Michael Kart, managing partner at Spectrum Partners, said: "Merchant Capital are able to bring funds to market much quicker than some of the larger platforms and have a good track record specifically with alternative products."
Merchant Capital director of asset management George Cadbury said: "The consistent growth of our Ucits platform is extremely exciting as we continue to look for compatible and innovative strategies with great track records. Spectrum is one such firm which we believe can successfully replicate its offshore product in an onshore regulated structure."
The Russian Phoenix Equity fund has a minimum investment of £20,000.
